MERT BALKANLI

Mert Balkanli is a multi-skilled and multi-lingual musician, producer, media content maker and journalist who has worked across the world with a dedication to social justice and change.

He’s played and recorded with the living Jazz legend Daniel Carter, curated the opening event ‘Turkish Tea Party’ for the second biggest Arts Festival in New York and started turkishaustralian.com, a news and cultural information site.

He is currently working with Deadly Award winner and Aboriginal elder Walangari Karntawarra in Sydney band The Black Turtles and Green Hand Band with Tim Gray and Troy J.Russell and was managing the restoration project at Tribal Warrior, the leading ship in the Sydney Harbour flotilla until recently.  He also works as a producer at SBS Turkish service and continues on his personal and other projects.
